Here’s the news that you have been waiting patiently for!Hide your pots of gold (and – in reference to Leprechaun in the Hood – hide your pot too); a director has been found for WWE Films’ Leprechaun reboot! The unfortunate part is that Warick Davis is not playing the demonic leprechaun, which seen as I’m a huge fan of the originals is very bad news for us. Instead WWE superstar Hornswoggle (pictured below) will be playing the title character. God I really have to pray this won’t completely suck, I know you may say it can’t be any worse than the originals but given WWE Studios previous ventures into the horror genre I really wouldn’t be surprised.

According to The Wrap, Lionsgate and WWE Studios have set visual-effects veteran Zach Lipovsky to direct Leprechaun, the long-awaited reboot of the successful horror franchise that launched the career of Jennifer Aniston.

Lipovsky was discovered as a contestant on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett’s short-lived reality series “On the Lot,” which saw 16 aspiring filmmakers compete for a development deal with DreamWorks.

The original Leprechaun, which featured comedic elements, followed an evil leprechaun searching for his pot of gold while avoiding four-leaf clovers. “The tone is going to be a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember, trying to find a way to please fans of that genre; but at the same time this is really being played for scares,” said WWE president Michael Luisi in an earlier interview.

Producers are keeping details of Harris Wilkinson’s script under wraps to keep the franchise’s new direction a secret.
